I've been a teacher since August 2001. You would think that in that time I would have learned to be the most patient person on the face of the earth.
You would be wrong.
Yesterday and today have been a study in patience as I have waited for two days for the guy to come give an estimate for the paint job so our house can be rented out when we PCS. Long sentence, grammatically correct.
It's 2:30 or 1430 or, more to the point, 5 (five) hours and 30 (thirty!) minutes past the time when the gentleman was supposed to be here.
He isn't even going to paint, but only give an estimate.
Now, if I had nothing better to do with my day, I wouldn't mind as much. However, as it stands I have a list of Things That Must Be Done:
1. Get a new drivers license, as mine will expire while we're in Europe. While this normally would only take a few hours and could be done later, this wonderful state now mails licenses back, so I have to make sure there's enough time for it to be returned via snail mail.
2. Separate items for the yard sale we're having this weekend. We have so much stuff to get rid of that we don't really see any reason to haul halfway across the world. If we can't sell it, I'll donate it, as it's mostly good stuff.
3. Give the dog a bath. My husband thinks she has fleas, since something ate his legs up in bed the other night (curiously, I was fine), so much so that he washed the bed linen and, without giving her a bath, put her into bed again last night. Which leads to...
3a. Wash the bed linen on the bed, since he didn't give the dog a bath and put her into the bed last night after changing the sheets.
4. Take the first set of bed linen out of the washer and put it into the dryer. I was out with friends last night so I'm pretty sure that wasn't done.
5. Get the car oil changed. The "Oil Change Required" thingamajig came on over the weekend. I'm pretty sure the car is serious at this point.
6. I was supposed to go watch my husband jump out of a perfectly good airplane, his last airborne jump until we hit Europe, but since that began an hour ago, and ye painter estimation man still isn't here, I guess I can scratch that off the list.
